H D Kumaraswamy alleges land irregularities in BMIC project
Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy has accused Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar of facilitating irregularities regarding the Bengaluru–Mysuru Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project. During a press conference in Bengaluru, Kumaraswamy alleged that land allocation and planning frameworks were altered after the project's inception to benefit private interests.
Kumaraswamy specifically questioned why the land earmarked for toll roads increased from 6,999 acres under the original 1997 Framework Agreement to approximately 9,468 acres in revised plans. He further alleged that the distribution of land for townships was modified without returning the matter to the Cabinet for approval. He challenged Shivakumar to an open debate regarding these deviations and questioned land transactions involving the Chief Minister’s family.
Chief Minister Shivakumar has rejected the allegations, stating that his assets were acquired lawfully and declared to the authorities. He responded by challenging Kumaraswamy to hold the debate within the State Assembly.
