H. D. Kumaraswamy criticizes Karnataka government over drought response
H. D. Kumaraswamy has criticized the Karnataka state government for prioritizing discussions regarding a recent sting operation over the urgent issue of drought management. He expressed dissatisfaction with the administration's handling of drinking water shortages, crop compensation, and fodder scarcity for livestock.
Kumaraswamy noted that the additional 2,500 rupees in compensation announced by the state is insufficient compared to NDRF guidelines for dryland and irrigated land losses. He further alleged that while the government announced 1,200 crore rupees in aid, the funds have not yet reached the farmers.
Regarding the sting operation and allegations of corruption in the irrigation department, Kumaraswamy claimed to possess documents related to illegal money collection during the transfer of engineers. He also suggested that attempts are being made to damage the political reputation of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah through these allegations.
