Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy has formally requested Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar to cancel the Framework Agreement for the Bengaluru-Mysuru Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project, also known as NICE Road. In a seven-page letter, Kumaraswamy alleged significant violations by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE), including irregularities in land acquisition and the unauthorized shifting of land earmarked for townships into the toll-road category.

The demand follows a July 2026 Karnataka High Court ruling that criticized NICE, the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), and the state government for complicity in project execution irregularities. Kumaraswamy has called for the state to immediately halt toll collection and enact legislation to formally take over the project.

Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar responded by stating he would examine the letter and consider appropriate actions within the legal framework.
