The Governor suggested utilizing approximately 6,757 acres of unutilised government land allegedly held by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) to reduce the need for compulsory acquisition of private agricultural land.

Political pressure has mounted as Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy formally requested Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar to cancel the BMIC Framework Agreement, alleging irregularities and unauthorized land shifting. In response to a petition by farmers, the Karnataka High Court has since restricted activities at the Bidadi site, ordering that no trees be cut or bricks moved without explicit court permission. Justice R Nataraj warned against the “overnight destruction of property,” stating that no coercive action can be taken against farmers even after compensation is announced.
