Ha Tinh Province mobilizes for heavy rain and flood risks

Authorities in Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam, have issued urgent directives to prepare for severe weather conditions, including a tropical depression and heavy rainfall expected through mid-September 2026.

Provincial leaders, including Secretary Nguyen Duy Lam and Chairman Ho Huy Thanh, have emphasized a proactive approach to disaster prevention. The province is focusing on the “4 at local levels” principle to ensure rapid response to potential storms, heavy rain, floods, and landslides. Military and local units have been instructed to prepare personnel and equipment, such as motorboats and lifebuoys, to assist in search and rescue operations.

Meteorological reports indicate that a tropical depression formed near the Paracel Islands is driving significant rainfall across the region. Between September 12 and 16, rainfall levels are expected to reach up to 250 mm in some areas, with risks of lightning, gusts, and flash floods. River levels on the Ngan Sau, Ngan Pho, and La rivers are projected to rise to alarm levels 1, 2, or 3, prompting inspections of dams and dykes to ensure public safety.
