Ha Tinh agricultural and flood response

Overview

Heavy rainfall in Ha Tinh province, caused by a tropical convergence zone between August 18 and August 21, impacted agricultural production and local infrastructure, affecting over 3,300 hectares of summer-autumn rice crops. To mitigate damage, farmers accelerated harvests, while local authorities managed drainage systems and reservoir levels.

In mid-September 2026, the province entered a new period of heightened alert due to a tropical depression forming near the Paracel Islands. Meteorological reports indicate that between September 12 and 16, rainfall could reach up to 250 mm in some areas, bringing risks of lightning, gusts, and flash floods.

Provincial leaders, including Secretary Nguyen Duy Lam and Chairman Ho Huy Thanh, have issued urgent directives emphasizing a proactive approach to disaster prevention. Authorities are applying the ‘4 at local levels’ principle to ensure rapid responses to potential storms, floods, and landslides. Military and local units have been ordered to prepare personnel and equipment, such as motorboats and lifebuoys, for search and rescue operations. Additionally, inspections of dams and dykes are underway as river levels on the Ngan Sau, Ngan Pho, and La rivers are projected to rise to alarm levels 1, 2, or 3.
