Turkey Justice Minister Akın Gürlek highlights muhtar importance in Erdemli officials meeting

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek met in Ankara with Erdemli district mayor Mustafa Kara and the town’s muhtars. He praised muhtars as “the most fundamental pillar of the state” and said they listen to citizens’ problems.

Gürlek outlined ongoing reforms to accelerate judicial procedures, citing the newly amended e‑Tebligat law that will streamline service of notice in long‑running cadastral ownership cases. He announced the creation of a dedicated unit to monitor and speed up such cases and noted that further expert‑report (bilirkişilik) regulations are slated for the 12th legislative package before parliament.

The minister thanked the local officials for their visit and reiterated the government’s commitment to improve the efficiency of the justice system.
