Haedo to host historic 1906 steam locomotive demonstration

To commemorate the 169th anniversary of Argentina's first railway, the Museo y Centro Cultural Ferroviario Raúl Scalabrini Ortiz will operate the historic Stephenson N° 2037 steam locomotive this Saturday. The event will take place at the Haedo Station, specifically at Platform General 3, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Built in Great Britain in 1906 by Robert Stephenson & Co., the Stephenson N° 2037 is a wide-gauge locomotive originally designed for yard duties and workshop movements. The celebration honors the inaugural journey of the Ferrocarril del Oeste, which occurred on August 29, 1857.

In addition to the locomotive demonstration, the museum will host a free exhibition of vintage photographs of Haedo and offer institutional memorabilia. Proceeds from the event will support the ongoing restoration of other historical railway vehicles.
