Traffic incidents and police chases reported in Austria and Germany
Multiple traffic incidents involving high-speed chases, intoxication, and collisions have been reported across Austria and Germany.
In Austria, an 18-year-old driver led police on a chase through Aspach, reaching speeds over 100 km/h in a 30 km/h zone before being caught in a dead end. In Kundl, a 27-year-old German driver, found to be heavily intoxicated and in possession of cannabis, crashed into a roundabout after a high-speed pursuit. Another incident in Vorarlberg involved an 84-year-old woman who was airlifted to a hospital after her vehicle struck a streetlamp.
In Germany, several incidents highlighted the dangers of impaired driving. A 49-year-old man in Kaiserslautern caused multiple accidents, including a vehicle rollover, shortly after his license was confiscated for a 2.4 per mille blood alcohol level. In Schwandorf, a 46-year-old man with nearly 3 per mille alcohol levels and a history of over 50 criminal cases was arrested after blocking traffic and resisting police. Additionally, a 71-year-old driver in Ansbach engaged in a high-speed pursuit after failing to surrender his license due to accumulated penalty points.
