Hagen Fire in Oregon Triggers Large Evacuations and Ongoing Containment

The Hagen Fire, now over 24,000 acres in the Umatilla National Forest, has prompted heightened evacuation orders in Union and Umatilla counties. Level 3 "Go Now" zones cover areas south of the North Fork Umatilla River and parts of Union County, while Level 2 "Be Set" zones include additional surrounding regions. All evacuation zones are under U.S. Forest Service administrative closures for public and firefighter safety.

Firefighters from more than 870 personnel, coordinated by the Oregon State Fire Marshal and Northwest Incident Management Team 7, are working with county sheriffs, city officials, state agencies, and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Helicopters have dropped over 100,000 gallons of water, and crews are building direct and indirect fire lines to protect communities, municipal water supplies, railroad corridors, timber lands, and recreation areas. The fire’s growth has been limited by a thick smoke blanket from nearby Oregon fires, aiding containment efforts.

Authorities continue to monitor the fire’s behavior, urging residents in evacuation zones to remain vigilant, follow safety directives, and avoid waiting for official orders if conditions become unsafe.
