Vietnam weather: Cold air mass to end heatwaves and bring rain
Vietnam is experiencing a transition in weather patterns. After a period of intense heat in the Northern and Central regions, a cold air mass is expected to move in starting the night of October 4. This shift will bring cooler temperatures to Northern Vietnam, with some high mountain areas potentially dropping to 14-17 degrees Celsius. The arrival of the cold air is also forecasted to trigger widespread rain and thunderstorms across the North and from Thanh Hoa to Hue.
In Tuyen Quang, authorities have issued warnings for flash floods and landslides due to heavy rainfall and high soil moisture levels. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City recently faced significant urban flooding, with 12 major routes submerged following intense rainfall and high tides.
Meteorologists warn that the interaction between existing heat and incoming cold air may cause extreme weather, including lightning, hail, and strong wind gusts. Coastal areas should also prepare for strong winds and high waves in the Gulf of Tonkin and the East Sea.
