Hai Phong launches DNA collection campaign to identify fallen soldiers
Authorities in Hai Phong, Vietnam, are conducting a DNA sampling campaign to identify the remains of fallen soldiers. The second phase of this initiative is scheduled to take place from October 19 to October 26.
The campaign targets 7,518 relatives of unidentified martyrs. Priority is given to biological mothers, maternal grandmothers, full siblings, and other maternal relatives who meet specific requirements. To ensure accessibility, local police have deployed mobile teams to collect samples from individuals unable to travel to designated locations.
This effort is part of a broader 500-day campaign dedicated to the search, recovery, and identification of fallen soldiers' remains. In the Chi Minh commune alone, 204 relatives registered for this phase, with 155 samples collected so far, including two via home visits.
