Hai Phong Police warn of Mid-Autumn Festival phishing scams
The Hai Phong Police Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Division has issued a warning regarding fraudulent activities on social media platforms such as Zalo and Messenger. Scammers are exploiting the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival by creating fake programs related to gift giving, charity, and child support.
Criminals use tactics such as creating fake accounts or fanpages that mimic legitimate organizations, businesses, or charitable groups. These fraudulent messages often use official logos and similar branding to gain trust. Once victims engage, they are typically directed to click suspicious links or scan QR codes to “confirm” their eligibility for gifts. These actions can lead to phishing websites designed to steal sensitive personal information, including full names, phone numbers, citizen identification details, and bank account information.
