Hailstorm damages public facilities in Brescia, Italy

On Monday 20 July 2026 a severe hailstorm hit the Brescia area in northern Italy. The storm caused extensive damage to public infrastructure, including a sports centre, the roof of a gymnasium, a library, parks, municipal buildings and private property such as cars and photovoltaic installations. The mayor ordered the suspension of activities in sports fields and the gym, and two ordinances were signed to that effect. Civil protection teams worked throughout the day to clear debris, cut down fallen trees and repair sidewalks, while the fire brigade responded to a large tree that fell on a road in Ponte di Legno.

A separate weather forecast for Modena, also in northern Italy, predicted mostly cloudy conditions on 20 July with temperatures between 22 °C and 31 °C, a partly rainy day on 21 July, and clear skies on 22 July. Winds were expected to shift from moderate northeasterly to easterly, then to light west‑northwest and southeast winds over the three‑day period.
