Haiti and Senegal implement economic and food security measures

In Haiti, the government is expected to adopt a decree establishing an automatic fuel price adjustment mechanism. The proposed system would involve monthly reviews of pump prices based on international market fluctuations. To prevent extreme volatility, no changes would be applied for variations of 3% or less, and adjustments would be capped at 10% of the current price.

A nine-member regulatory commission will oversee the sector, including representatives from the Haitian state, transport unions, and petroleum industry associations such as APPE, ANADIPP, and ANAPROSS. The commission will monitor price application and fuel quality.

In Senegal, Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Mohamed Lo has announced 7.2 billion FCFA in emergency funding to combat food and pastoral insecurity. The measures target regions including Goudiry, Salémata, Bambey, Matam, Podor, and Ranérou, where over 836,000 people face severe food insecurity.

The funds will be distributed among the National Nutrition Development Council, the National Solidarity Fund for cash transfers, the Food Security and Resilience Commission for food kits, and the Livestock Directorate for pastoral assistance.
