Regional food security and economic stability measures

Various nations are implementing measures to address economic stability and food insecurity.

In Haiti, the government is moving toward a decree to establish an automatic fuel price adjustment mechanism. This system would involve monthly reviews of pump prices based on international market fluctuations, with a nine-member regulatory commission overseeing the sector to monitor price application and fuel quality.

In Senegal, the Prime Minister announced 7.2 billion FCFA in emergency funding to combat food and pastoral insecurity in several regions where over 836,000 people face severe food insecurity. The funds are designated for nutrition development, cash transfers, food kits, and pastoral assistance.

In Cameroon, the Cameroon Red Cross distributed food aid, including rice, to over 330 vulnerable households in the Mayo-Tsanaga and Mayo-Sava departments to combat insecurity driven by climate pressures and security issues.

In Madagascar, the State Procurement of Madagascar purchased 37 tonnes of paddy from farmers in the Bongolava region to regulate market prices and protect local incomes from speculation. Despite prioritizing local paddy, the country anticipates significant imports to meet national needs.
