Haiti to provide 15,000 gourde school subsidies to 140,000 parents

The Haitian government has announced a 2.5 billion gourde subsidy program under the ‘Cash Transfert-Éducation’ initiative to support the 2026-2027 school year. The program aims to provide 15,000 gourdes to 140,000 parents whose children attend national, community, communal, and presbytéral schools located in disadvantaged areas.

To identify eligible beneficiaries, the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) is utilizing the Education Information and Management System (SIGE). This digital system, specifically its SIGEE subsystem, contains data on school locations, student identities, gender, residence, and family status. The Ministry stated that the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) will use these automated lists to conduct transfers, rather than relying on manual selection processes.
