Haiti electoral council sets party registration timeline for 2026 elections

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) in Haiti has published an electoral calendar that marks a decisive step toward holding the next national elections. The schedule calls for the registration of political groupings to take place from 10 to 14 August 2026, with the deadline for parties to complete their filings set for 31 July 2026.

Council President Jacques Desrosiers emphasized that adhering to these deadlines is essential for a credible, inclusive and transparent electoral process. Civil society leader Nancy Lainé Isaac welcomed the calendar as a sign of renewed democratic hope after more than a decade without regular elections, urging all Haitians to support the effort and work toward stability and peace.
