Haiti Prime Minister details CARICOM talks on security, migration and aid

Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils‑Aimé addressed a press conference after the 51st CARICOM summit in Saint Lucia, outlining discussions on the country’s insecurity and the migration of Haitian citizens. He said talks with CARICOM leaders covered support for Haiti’s upcoming electoral process and a request to renew the mandate of the United Nations‑created Multinational Security Support Force, with backing from Jamaica, the Bahamas and Saint Lucia.

Fils‑Aimé announced that Haiti will respond to CARICOM’s request for health personnel by sending qualified nurses to member states. He also reported that Guyana will donate 500 tonnes of rice to help alleviate food insecurity in Haiti. Additional cooperation prospects were mentioned with Romania and South Korea in the areas of security, training, trade and health.
