Haiti security crisis escalates amid reports of gang drone acquisitions

Experts, including lawyer Lacks-Guvens Cadette, have described the possibility of gangs acquiring such technology as ‘extremely concerning and dangerous.’ This development follows a violent 2025 in which over 5,900 people were killed in a country where gangs control approximately 90% of metropolitan areas.

In response to rising criminality, interim Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé has utilized private security solutions, including the engagement of Erik Prince through his company, Vectus Global. However, these private operations have been linked to numerous civilian deaths.

Amidst these security threats, there are ongoing criticisms regarding foreign influence and the role of international powers, specifically the United States.
