Witnesses reported that individuals chased, insulted, and struck the photojournalists, with some being pelted with stones. The Union des Journalistes et Médias d’Haïti (UJMH) and the Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa (SIP) have condemned these attacks, describing them as a “grave threat to press freedom and democratic foundations.”

The broader humanitarian situation remains dire. UNICEF previously reported 2.5 million internally displaced persons and over 5.8 million facing acute food insecurity. Recent data indicates that between April and June of this year, more than 1,400 people were killed as gangs maintained control over an estimated 70% of Port-au-Prince.
