Haiti seeks regional support to restore security and state authority
Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé is seeking to strengthen state authority and security through increased regional and international partnerships. During the conclusion of a mission by the Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary General, Albert Ramdin, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the support of both the OAS and CARICOM in Haiti’s efforts to achieve stability.
The Haitian government has identified four priority areas: restoring security, reinstating constitutional order, boosting the economy, and strengthening social cohesion. Prime Minister Fils-Aimé emphasized that establishing security is a prerequisite for organizing credible general elections and restoring democratic life.
To bolster operational capacities, the government is also engaging with the Inter-American Defense College. This cooperation aims to support the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd’H) in their efforts to restore state authority across the national territory.
