Haiti sets September 9 candidate registration deadline

Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has established September 9 as the deadline for candidate registration ahead of national elections scheduled for December. This marks the first national vote in the country since 2016.

The registration process, which began online on August 20, will close for online submissions on September 3. Candidates then have until September 9 to submit all required physical documentation. The CEP will review applications between September 10 and September 17, with a preliminary list of approved candidates expected on September 17.

The first round of presidential, legislative, and constitutional referendum elections is set for December 13. Provisional results are expected by December 19, with final results anticipated by January 9, 2027. A second round for presidential and legislative contests, along with local elections, is planned for February 21, 2027.
