Haitian journalists honored at 9th PJJH awards

The 9th edition of the Prix du jeune journaliste en Haïti (PJJH), organized by the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), concluded on October 15, 2026, in Pétion-Ville. The competition, themed ‘Haitian youth tested by the security and humanitarian crisis,’ recognized journalists aged 18 to 35 across print, radio, and audiovisual categories.

Daniella Saint-Louis, a journalist for Gazette Haïti, won first prize in the print category for her report, ‘Between bullets and dreams: these young Haitians who refuse to give up their future.’ Murdith Joseph, formerly of Ted’Actu and currently working in Cap-Haïtien, received second prize in the radio category for her report, ‘The engagement that heals,’ which focuses on young women’s community involvement despite the country's security crisis.

This edition marks the return of the awards after a nearly four-year hiatus caused by insecurity. The five winners will receive internship opportunities with international media organizations, including RFI, TV5MONDE, and Gabon 24.
