Haitian youth journalism awards
Overview
The ninth edition of the Prix du jeune journaliste en Haïti (PJJH) concluded in Pétion-Ville, marking the return of the awards after a nearly four-year hiatus caused by national insecurity. Organized by the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), the competition focused on the theme ‘Haitian youth tested by the security and humanitarian crisis.’
Twenty-nine young journalists from all ten departments of Haiti participated across print, radio, and audiovisual categories. Notable winners included Daniella Saint-Louis of Gazette Haïti, who took first prize in the print category, and Murdith Joseph, who received second prize in the radio category. Other winners included Lucnise Duquereste, Ritchy Fortuné, Geneviève Rose Murdith Joseph, and Guerby Jean.
In addition to receiving digital devices, journalism manuals, and subscriptions to Le Monde diplomatique, the laureates earned international internship opportunities with organizations such as RFI, TV5MONDE, Gabon 24, and L’Union in Gabon.
