Haitian nationals repatriated from Bahamas and U.S. to Cap-Haïtien

On August 27, 2026, Cap-Haïtien International Airport received two separate groups of repatriated Haitian nationals from the Bahamas and the United States. The operations involved a total of 161 individuals: 104 arriving from the Bahamas and 57 arriving via a Global X charter flight from the United States.

The group from the United States included 51 men and six women. According to Kerlande Desauguste of the Office National de la Migration (ONM), the deportees included former beneficiaries of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and the Biden-era ‘Parole’ humanitarian program, as well as individuals with pending asylum claims. The arrival of families with children born in the United States and Brazil drew significant emotional reactions from parents.

This follows the end of the Temporary Protected Status for many Haitians living in the U.S. The Trump administration has indicated plans to maintain a deportation frequency of at least two flights per week to Haiti. These repatriations occur amidst a severe security and humanitarian crisis within Haiti.
