Haitian police and Task Force launch drone strikes in Cité Soleil

Haitian police and the Task Force conducted an anti-gang operation in Cité Soleil on Thursday night, November 5, 2026, utilizing at least seven kamikaze drones. The strikes targeted the Boston neighborhood, a territory controlled by a gang leader known as Mathias.

Reports indicate that Mathias was critically injured when a drone struck the vehicle he was traveling in. While the gang leader survived the attack, several of his associates and members of the Ti Gabriel gang, who had deployed to Boston as reinforcements, were reportedly killed. Preliminary reports suggest at least seven armed gang members died during the intervention.

The operation involved police in armored vehicles engaging gang members before the drone strikes occurred. Local observers noted that the intensity of these interventions has caused armed groups to flee other areas, such as Croix-des-Bouquets and the Plaine du Cul-de-Sac, to seek refuge in Cité Soleil.
