Haitian police anti-gang operations
Overview
The Haitian National Police (PNH) have intensified security operations against armed groups in several regions. In late October 2026, police conducted an operation in the Bercy area, a border zone between Cabaret and Arcahaie. This action resulted in the deaths of at least ten suspected gang members, including a leader identified as Galaxie. The deployment of armored vehicles during this operation led to the displacement of civilians and the evacuation of the Cabaret municipal market.
By early November 2026, operations expanded to Cité Soleil. In a joint effort with a Task Force, police utilized at least seven kamikaze drones to target the Boston neighborhood, an area controlled by a gang leader known as Mathias. While Mathias reportedly survived a drone strike on his vehicle, several associates and members of the Ti Gabriel gang were killed. These intensified interventions have reportedly caused armed groups to flee other territories, such as Croix-des-Bouquets and the Plaine du Cul-de-Sac, to seek refuge in Cité Soleil.
