Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils‑Aimé Reaffirms Franco‑Haitian Ties at Bastille Day Reception
On July 14, Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils‑Aimé attended a reception organized by the French embassy at the Hôtel Montana in Port‑au‑Prince. The event was attended by French Foreign Minister Raina Forbin, French Ambassador Antoine Michon, the Spanish ambassador, the EU ambassador and members of Haiti’s government and civil society.
In his speech, Fils‑Aimé linked the principles of the French Revolution to Haiti’s current challenges, praising the long‑standing bilateral relationship. He highlighted the Haitian government’s efforts to improve security, strengthen public institutions and restore durable democratic order. The prime minister also welcomed the establishment of a mixed Franco‑Haitian commission to examine Haiti’s double‑independence debt and called for deeper cooperation across multiple sectors.
