Haiti's CEP launches pilot project for diaspora voting

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) of Haiti is developing a pilot project to allow members of the Haitian diaspora to participate in upcoming elections. This initiative follows an electoral decree intended to facilitate voting for citizens living abroad.

As part of this effort, the CEP has launched international consultations to assess the institutional, technical, and logistical requirements for such a process. A delegation, including Secretary General Peterson Pierre-Louis and Treasurer Nemrod Sanon, recently visited Canada to meet with officials from Global Affairs Canada and Elections Canada. These discussions focused on voter identification, accessibility, and mechanisms to ensure the integrity and transparency of the ballot.

In addition to Canada, the CEP has conducted missions to Brazil and Chile to study the conditions necessary for diaspora participation in those countries. The goal of these pilot programs is to create an inclusive and impartial electoral process by leveraging international expertise and evaluating the feasibility of overseas voting.
