Hakkari provides 75% subsidized electric fencing for beekeepers
In the Yüksekova district of Hakkari, Turkey, local authorities have begun distributing subsidized equipment to beekeepers under the “Tel Çektim Arılarım Güvende” (I Drew Wire, My Bees are Safe) project. The initiative is funded by the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's General Directorate of Livestock and implemented by the Hakkari Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
Through a lottery system, 30 beneficiaries who own 50 or more beehives received comprehensive 9-piece electric fencing kits. The equipment includes an electronically controlled electric fence device, a 50-watt solar panel, fencing wire, connection cables, a grounding rod, warning signs, door springs, iron poles, and PPRC pipes.
Murat İnan, the Yüksekova District Director of Agriculture and Forestry, stated that the project aims to protect bee populations from external threats and strengthen beekeeping activities in the region. He noted that similar support projects are expected to continue.
