Chalkidiki officials discuss fire compensation for Sivri farmers

Officials held an open meeting at the Kassandra Town Hall to inform farmers affected by the devastating fire in Sivri, Chalkidiki, which occurred on August 13, 2026. The meeting, coordinated by Chalkidiki Vice Governor Ioannis Koufidis, focused on activating procedures to record and assess damages to plant and animal production.

Participants discussed compensation options under ELGA regulations and the State Financial Aid Regulation (KOE). There was also information regarding potential state aid for agricultural holdings following a request from the Minister of Rural Development and Food.

Affected farmers were instructed to submit their claims and required documentation to the ELGA representative in Kassandra. Regional authorities, ELGA, and the Municipality of Kassandra stated they remain in continuous communication with those affected to ensure the rapid use of available institutional and financial tools to support agricultural production.
