Halloween: The Game reaches 500,000 players at launch
Halloween: The Game, developed by IllFonic and Gun Interactive, has achieved a significant launch, attracting over 500,000 players across PC and consoles within hours of its release. On Steam, the title reached a 24-hour peak of more than 33,000 concurrent players, marking what is described as the largest Steam launch for an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game. This performance surpasses the debut concurrent player counts of other major titles in the genre, such as Dead by Daylight, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Friday the 13th: The Game.
To coincide with the full launch, a Day-One patch (version 1.0.1) was released to address issues identified during Early Access. The update includes bug fixes for crossplay matchmaking, improvements to NPC pathfinding, and adjustments to the stamina system and civilian escape mechanics. A physical version of the game is scheduled to arrive on October 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
