The single-player campaign consists of six chapters narrated by Dr. Sam Loomis, set during the 1978 Halloween night in Haddonfield. The multiplayer mode utilizes Unreal Engine 5 to facilitate 1v4 matches where one player controls Michael Myers against four survivors.

Upon launch, the game achieved significant commercial success, attracting over 500,000 players across PC and consoles within hours. On Steam, the title reached a 24-hour peak of more than 33,000 concurrent players, which is noted as the largest Steam launch for an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, surpassing the debuts of titles like ‘Dead by Daylight’ and ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’. To support the launch, IllFonic released a Day-One patch (version 1.0.1) to address technical issues including NPC navigation, civilian detection, cross-play functionality, and stamina system adjustments.
