HAMA holds dialogue session to professionalize Chadian media

The Haute Autorité des Médias et de l’Audiovisuel (HAMA) held its second information and dialogue session with media professionals in N’Djamena on September 29, 2026. The meeting aimed to normalize relations between the regulatory body and the press following previous tensions.

HAMA President Halimé Assadya Ali announced several key initiatives as part of the 2026-2028 strategic plan, including the imminent resumption of press card issuance, the upcoming launch of a Maison de la Presse, and the availability of revalued public press aid. To stabilize the sector, HAMA has implemented a temporary freeze on the creation of new online media outlets.

The discussions also addressed challenges posed by digital transformation and artificial intelligence, as well as concerns regarding professional ethics and legal compliance among certain print and online publications.
