Hamas approves second phase of Trump's Gaza peace roadmap

Hamas has announced its approval of the roadmap for the second phase of the peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. The roadmap was presented by Nikolai Miladinov, the Peace Council coordinator, in coordination with mediators.

Following a meeting in Egypt involving a Hamas delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya, the movement stated that its decision is driven by the interests of the Palestinian people and the pursuit of a permanent ceasefire. Key priorities for Hamas include the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, the securing of urgent and sustainable humanitarian aid, the commencement of reconstruction efforts, and the activation of an administrative committee.

Hamas asserted that it fully complied with the first phase of the ceasefire agreement established in Sharm el-Sheikh, which included the exchange of prisoners and bodies and the cessation of military operations. Conversely, the movement accused Israel of failing to meet its obligations, continuing military incursions, and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. Hamas has called upon mediators and the Peace Council to pressure Israel to approve the second phase and to establish a clear timeline for implementation.
