Hamas calls for ceasefire and end to Gaza siege

On 27 June 2026 Hamas issued a statement declaring that stopping the Israeli aggression, lifting the siege of Gaza and ending the occupation are legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people. The movement described the Israeli actions as a war of extermination, famine and siege that targets civilians and infrastructure and violates international law.

Hamas pledged to continue defending Palestinians, pursuing an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, and urged the international community and the United Nations to assume legal and moral responsibility, hold Israeli leaders accountable, and take immediate steps to end the hostilities. The statement reiterated that “وقف العداع والرفع الحصار عن غزة وإنهاء الاحتلال تمثل حقوقًا وطنية مشروعة”.
