Hamas-linked security forces accused of extrajudicial killings in Gaza
Human rights organizations and international bodies are calling for an immediate end to extrajudicial executions carried out by Hamas-affiliated groups in the Gaza Strip. The Resistance Security System, a secretive group operating under Hamas's military wing, has reportedly announced a large-scale security operation that includes further planned executions of individuals accused of collaborating with Israel.
Reports detail specific incidents of violence, including the public execution of eight unarmed members of the Dughmush family in Gaza City in October 2025. Additionally, a man was executed in July 2026 following accusations of providing information to Israeli forces. Amnesty International has verified footage of such killings, which often involve victims being bound and shot at close range.
A report from the UN Human Rights Council's Independent International Commission of Inquiry documented 249 cases of extrajudicial killings or severe physical violence in the Gaza Strip between August 2024 and January 2026, resulting in at least 108 deaths. Local rights groups, including Al Mezan and the Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR), continue to demand accountability for these unlawful killings.
