Hamas signals partial weapons handover to Gazan security forces
The New York Times reported that two Hamas officials in Gaza said the group proposed handing over thousands of small weapons used by Gaza’s police and security agencies. The statements describe a plan to transfer a sizable stock of arms held by Hamas-affiliated security forces to the Gazan authorities.
Separately, two senior Hamas officials said the group would relinquish some automatic rifles and other arms, a concession that falls short of demands from Israel and the United States.
