Hamas urges mediators to halt Israeli attacks in Gaza

Hamas has consulted with mediators and Nickolay Mladenov, the Peace Council High Representative for Gaza, following Israeli military strikes in Gaza City that resulted in civilian casualties. Hamas condemned the operations, stating they caused deaths and injuries among Palestinian civilians.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported attacking several targets in Gaza to eliminate perceived threats. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, Director of Al-Shifa Hospital, reported that three people were killed and eight others were injured in the recent strikes.

While a ceasefire agreement was reached in October 2025 through mediation by Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey, full implementation remains incomplete. Disagreements persist regarding the sequence of actions: Israel demands the disarmament of Hamas prior to further troop withdrawals, while Hamas requires a cessation of attacks, troop withdrawal, and the fulfillment of humanitarian aid requirements first.
