Hamburg Senate faces pressure over circus wild animal use

Political pressure is mounting on the Hamburg Senate following protests against the use of wild animals in circuses. After recent demonstrations at the Circus Krone performance at Heiligengeistfeld, the political party Die Linke has submitted a motion to the Bürgerschaft. The goal of this motion is to prevent the city from renting municipal spaces to circuses that feature wild animal performances.

In addition to political maneuvers, a petition has been launched on Change.org seeking to ensure that the Heiligengeistfeld in St. Pauli is only utilized by circuses that do not include animal training. Critics argue that while the current coalition government expresses opposition to wild animals in circuses, the city continues to facilitate their presence by providing venues for such shows.
