Volksparkstadion expansion to increase capacity to over 60,000

Hamburger SV has received approval to begin expanding the capacity of the Volksparkstadion. The project aims to increase the stadium's capacity from 57,000 to more than 60,000 seats.

Construction is scheduled to begin in October. To ensure uninterrupted match operations, work will be carried out during the intervals between home games. The expansion will be implemented in phases, starting with the A-Rang (the section closest to the pitch) by adding seats to the entrances and exits. Subsequent phases will include the B- and C-Rangs, followed by further expansion of the A-Rang toward the field. The project also includes the construction of additional sanitary facilities to support the increased capacity.

The expansion is being financed by the HSV Supporters-Trust, which utilizes funds generated from fan participation to purchase new shares in HSV Fußball AG, providing the necessary capital for the project.
