Volksparkstadion capacity expansion project

Overview

Hamburger SV has received approval to expand the capacity of the Volksparkstadion from 57,000 to more than 60,000 seats. The project is expected to cost in the mid-seven-figure range and is being financed by the HSV Supporters-Trust through funds generated from fan participation.

The expansion will be implemented in several phases to ensure uninterrupted match operations. Initial work involves adding seats to the entrances and exits of the A-Rang, with subsequent phases targeting the B- and C-Rangs and further expansion toward the field. The project also includes the construction of additional sanitary facilities.

While construction was initially anticipated to begin in October, later reports indicate that no work is scheduled to commence before the club’s Bundesliga home match against VfB Stuttgart.
