Hamed Musić finally laid to rest in Bosnia after 31‑year search

Hamed Musić, one of the ten victims of the 1995 Srebrenica genocide, was buried today at the Memorial Centre in Potočari, Bosnia and Herzegovina. After 31 years of searching, his sister Hadžira Bećirović Musić said the discovery of his remains in a mass grave finally gave the family a place to mourn. "His son never saw his grandmother," she recalled, describing the tragic loss of a short‑lived marriage and a three‑month‑old child.

The ceremony was attended by thousands of Bosnians and international observers, underscoring the ongoing effort to locate and honor war‑time victims. In a separate interview, Hajrudin Mešić, a surviving brother who lost four siblings in the same massacre, now teaches history and recounts his experience. He described the systematic killings, the betrayal of the international community, and the “greatest betrayal of all time” by NATO and Dutch peacekeepers. Mešić’s testimony highlights the lasting trauma of the genocide and the need for continued remembrance and justice.
