Hamilton mayor warns venues of anti-immigration conference

Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath is notifying local venues about an upcoming nationalist conference organized by the Dominion Society, scheduled for August 29. The group advocates for ‘remigration,’ a policy involving the mass deportation of immigrants and a 10-year immigration moratorium.

The conference features Austrian speaker Martin Sellner, who has been permanently banned from the United Kingdom on security grounds for promoting extremist narratives. Sellner’s U.S. travel permit was also revoked in 2019 following reports that the perpetrator of the Christchurch mosque shootings had donated to him.

While the Dominion Society markets the event as a nationalist conference, the Canadian Anti-Hate Network has identified the organization as part of a broader white-nationalist movement. Canadian government officials have declined to confirm whether Sellner will be granted entry into the country, stating only that all travelers must meet admissibility requirements under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
