Hana Ghassan leads Pará gubernatorial race in new poll

Hana Ghassan (MDB) is leading the race for the governorship of Pará with 43.17% of the intended votes, according to a poll conducted by Instituto Gauss between September 12 and 18. Her closest competitor, Daniel Santos (Podemos), follows with 38.57%, representing a 4.6 percentage point difference.

Ghassan, who assumed the governorship in April 2026 following the resignation of Helder Barbalho, is campaigning on a platform of administrative continuity and healthcare reform. As part of her health policy proposals, she has announced a plan to implement a 'transparent queue' system. This initiative would allow patients to use the internet to check their position in waiting lists for medical consultations, exams, and surgeries, aiming to prevent unauthorized priority changes.

Other campaign priorities for Ghassan include the digitalization of health services, the construction of new hospitals—such as a Women’s Hospital in Santarém—and expanding oncology, hemodialysis, and mental health services.
