Hannes Wirsing to represent Germany at WorldSkills 2026 in Shanghai
Hannes Wirsing, a 22-year-old automotive mechatronics specialist from Ottelmannshausen, will represent Germany at the WorldSkills 2026 competition in Shanghai. Wirsing, recognized as Germany’s top automotive mechatronics technician following his national championship win in Koblenz, is part of a 36-member German delegation.
The competition, scheduled from September 22 to 27, requires participants to demonstrate technical precision and speed in tasks such as fault finding, repairs, calibrating driver assistance systems, and adjusting chassis components. Wirsing will be coached by Stefan Mißbach, a former world champion in the same discipline.
Local organizations, including the Handwerkskammer für Unterfranken, have expressed support for Wirsing, noting that the competition highlights the high-tech nature and precision required in modern skilled trades.
