Hanoi Accelerates Completion of National Land Database Ahead of August Deadline

Vietnam's central government has ordered all localities to report progress on the national land‑record database by 8 August. The directive follows Prime Ministerial Instruction No. 05/CT‑TTg to speed up the creation of a comprehensive, accurate and up‑to‑date land‑ownership system.

In Hanoi, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has mobilised the entire political apparatus, organised training for commune police and related agencies, and set up more than 339 task teams. Software for “digital land parcels” and over 10 000 user accounts have been provided to 126 communes and wards. By early August the city had already verified 1,450,604 parcels in Group 1 and was collecting data for additional groups, aiming to finish the first‑phase target before 25 August. Residents report that the new procedures take only a few minutes per parcel.

The effort is part of a broader national push to ensure the land database meets the criteria of “accurate, complete, clean and living,” with the goal of improving property rights, taxation and planning across Vietnam.
