Vietnam Ministry of Construction targets 34 transport projects for 2026 completion

Vietnam's Ministry of Construction is overseeing significant progress and challenges in national transportation infrastructure. The Ministry plans to commence five major projects by the end of 2026, including the Bac Kan - Cao Bang expressway, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4, and the Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh road expansion. Additionally, 34 transportation projects are scheduled for completion within the year.

While some projects like the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway and the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway connection are progressing, others face delays. Specifically, two major national railway projects—the North-South high-speed railway and the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong line—are experiencing slow capital disbursement, with rates of only 3% and 5.1% respectively.

Challenges impacting these timelines include difficulties in land clearance, rising costs of raw materials, and fluctuations in fuel prices. Authorities have urged investors and project management boards to coordinate more closely with local governments to resolve site clearance issues and have called for the replacement of contractors who fail to meet progress requirements.
