Hanoi advances Red River boulevard and To Lich River restoration
Hanoi is advancing major urban development and environmental restoration projects. Regarding the Red River landscape boulevard project, Hanoi Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang has emphasized that land recovery for residents will only occur once resettlement areas with synchronized infrastructure are completed. The city is considering on-site resettlement or options in neighboring areas, with the large-scale project expected to continue through 2038.
Simultaneously, efforts to revitalize the To Lich River are underway to transform it from a polluted waterway into a cultural and ecological axis. Key developments include the operation of the Yen Xa Wastewater Treatment Plant, which has a capacity of 270,000 m³/day. Hanoi reports that by August 2025, all 245 discharge points along the To Lich River are expected to be collected and treated to prevent direct pollution.
